The presence of MRI-scanners (fMRI, MRI/MRS) in the LIN building made it necessary to locate the MEG lab at the Clinic for Neurology of the OvGU (Zenit II), on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine in close proximity to the LIN. The MEG lab is equipped with a 248-channel whole-head device (BTI Magnes 3600 WH) which is located in an electromagnetically shielded room. MEG signals are acquired by DC-magnetometers and corrected for environmental noise by means of a weighted subtraction of reference signals detected by additional sensors close to the SQUID sensors. Simultaneous EEG recordings are commonly performed using a 32-electrodes DC EEG system. Hardware for stimulus presentation and for monitoring the subject's response includes electronic devices for auditory, visual, and somatosensory stimulation as well as a multi-channel response keyboard.
Signal processing and data analysis may be performed by means of
several state-of-the-art software packages, e.g. Brain
Electrical Source Analysis (BESA) or the freely available FieldTrip
package. Additional analysis is possible using MatLab routines
tailored to the particular requirements of the project under
investigation.
